(LEARN – Christ-centred Learner | LEAD – Future-oriented Leader | FOR OTHERS)
Mission
Through our Mission, we aim to nurture, in our students, a passion for Learning (CCL-Christ-centred Learner) and Science (FOL – Future-oriented Leader).
Every Kellock Girl is encouraged to develop a lifelong curiosity and passion for Science and Learning by engaging in authentic inquiry, meaningful real-world experiences and collaborative learning. Through the Practices of Science, emerging technologies and interdisciplinary learning, we endeavor to nurture confident, self-directed learners who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, values and dispositions to thrive in an ever-changing world and to contribute meaningfully to the community.
Philosophy
We believe that every child can learn Science when learning is purposeful, authentic and connected to everyday life.
To this end, Science skills, knowledge, values and dispositions are:
taught (Pedagogy) explicitly, as well as implicitly, through quality pedagogy, purposeful questioning and authentic contexts
learned (Curriculum - Assessment) through Inquiry, assessment for learning and with the provision of both constructive, actionable and timely feedback
applied (Experiences) through the Practices of Science and in collaboration with others by engaging in hands-on investigations, interdisciplinary experiences, collaboration and real-world problem-solving that positively impact the community and environment.
Curriculum
The Science curriculum is guided by the MOE Science Curriculum Framework, and designed to develop scientifically literate students through the integration of scientific knowledge, the Practices of Science, and the Ways of Thinking and Doing. Learning experiences are intentionally crafted to strengthen students' competencies in critical, adaptive and inventive thinking, communication, collaboration and self-directed learning, while nurturing values, ethics and environmental stewardship. These experiences empower students to become future-ready citizens who use Science responsibly for the common good.
Key Programmes
The curriculum is delivered and enacted vis-a-vis programmes designed to be coherent and future-ready. Through authentic, technology-enabled learning experiences, students are equipped with the knowledge, competencies and dispositions to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Some of our signature programmes include:
Young Scientist @ Kellock Programme
Future-oriented Learner Programme (FOLP)
Inter-disciplinary Programe (IPW)
